2008 Les Coteaux Tufiers, Vouvray demi-sec

This lightly sweet Vouvray has the clean precision that is typical of 2008 – a very good vintage in the Loire for dry and demi-sec styles. Although it lacks the depth and complexity of the best 2008 Vouvrays it is attractive and well made. This is bottled by Boutinot in the Saône-et-Loire and probably has the potential to age for 10 years or so. Unfortunately it is sealed with a plastic cork, which tends not to be ideally suited for wines that you want to age. Good as an aperitif, this should also work well with shellfish, like scallops, that have a touch of sweetness.

Available from Winerack at £6.99, which is very good value.
