Epeigné-les-Bois’ Fête Country breaks the records
Sunday 24th May 2009
Epeigné’s first Fête Country proved to be a great success breaking all records for the May fêtes of previous years. The morning randonnée (from 8am) attracted 200 walkers against the customary 60. The mayor, Michel Mergot, was occupied from 8.30am directing the traffic, which later included 30 Harley Davidsons.
Once the fête got away at midday 500 meals were sold with the much appreciated chilli con carne selling out as well as the steaks and the spare ribs. At the last Fête du Lac only 170 meals were sold. This year 800 glasses of draught beer were consumed. In all well placed sources say that there were over 1000 visitors.
The highlights were the line dancing with Angels Country and the headlining band – Range Heroes.

Fête Country: Epeigné-les-Bois – just a week to go:
Epeigné-les-Bois' first Fête Country on Sunday 24th May is now just less than a week away. Details here. Curiously the counter appear to be a day ahead – unless I have misread it.

Nothing to do with the Loire but I'm enjoying reading Victoria Moore's new book called How to Drink (£15.99), which offers lots of good advice on getting the most out of a while range of drinks – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. It is published by Granta.

Workwise a highly frustrating day trying to sort out a connection problem with France Telecom's technical service – wasted hours! Thus no reports on this week's visits so far. However I have finished the report on the Mullineux Wines and the remarkable lunch at The Ledbury.
