Epeigné-les-Bois: 1er tranche of community vines planted

The first three rows are now planted

Newly planted parcel – Lieu dit: Gandelard

1st 150 vines planted in the commune's new communal vineyard organised by Les Amis des Patrimoines d'Épeigné les Bois. The first 150 are Le Plantet, a hybrid which was very common in Touraine between the two world wars and in at least two decades following. Chosen because of its resistance to disease. Also known as 5455 Seibel.

Vincent Beaumont, the wine-maker, says the first vintage will be in 2021 or 2022 depending on whether this summer is dry or wet. If wet the vines will grow sufficiently to permit a vintage in 2021. "The Plantet won't produce a 'grand vin' but it should be attractive to drink and can served at various fêtes here in Epeigné-les-Bois.

Epeigné-les-Bois: more eating and drinking + vintage transport + church repairs + team of pigeons

Lunch tent erected by Epeigné's Plan d'Eau

Following on from the Répas des Ainés yesterday, today saw the Pique-nique of the Association des Amis des patrimoines d'Epeigné-les-Bois, who were blessed with a lovely early autumn day.

 Apéro in brilliant sunshine

Epeigné's Lac is not just a good place for a picnic but also from time to time can be a witness to an exchange between vintage transport enthusiasts! Here Dominique Hisbergue on the Royal Enfield chats to Oliver – the owner of a 1966 Chevrolet Impala.

Repairs to Epeigné-les-Bois' church, which the village's central feature, continue with Stage 2 now underway.

Bearing in mind the number of strikes (grèves) in France, Epeigné-les-Bois has invested in a flock of highly trained pigeons, who will be able to take over should La Poste go on strike and so continue to provide an exemplary service.
