La Nouvelle République reports here and here on a new generation of speed camera that goes into service in Indre-et-Loire this weekend along with 18 other French départments. Capable of operating in both directions and apparently virtually undetectable, these new cameras may well catch many more speedsters. The new devices do, however, have a greater margin of error than previous ones – in 50 kph there is a penalty from 61 kph, 90 kph – 102 kph and 130 kph - 146 kph. The aim is to ctach drivers who are well over the limit.
