#TDF13: Griepel wins in Montpellier – Cav a disappointed 4th

Much to Mark Cavendish's disappointment André Griepel crossed the line in Montpellier first followed by Peter Sagan, Marcel Kittel and Mark. Cavendish crashed towards the end of the stage and although he got back into the peloton he had used up vital energy doing so. Also his team faded towards the end so he didn't have a lead out train.

The win takes Griepel's stage wins total to five. Daryl Impey took over the Yellow Jersey from his team mate Simon Gerrans and becomes the first African to wear the Yellow Jersey.

Today's stage is quite lumpy running from Montpellier across to Albi. Doubtless Cav and the other sprinters will be determined to hang in to contest the sprint as two days in the mountains follow. However, it is also a day when a breakaway might manage to stay away.
