Epeigné-les-Bois: vendange 2012: a few photos

A small bunch of 2012 Sauvignon Blanc

The 2012 vendange is now underway in Touraine with the picking of early varieties like Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Catherine Roussel and Didier Barrouillet (Clos Roche Blanche) picked their very small crop of Sauvignon Blanc on Thursday and Friday of last week. Today I caught up with James Marchais in his Epeigné vines. James supplies the cooperative in Francueil. He and his select team of pickers started this morning on the small crop of Sauvignon Blanc. They will also be picking the Chardonnay while the Cabernet Franc, which is picked by hand into small cases as it goes into the coop's Crémant de Loire, will be picked in early October.
