2014 Tour de France: André Griepel wins in Reims
André Griepel got back to winning ways again with a late but clear win in Reims this afternoon. The stage was wetter than the forecast predicted. This time Marcel Kittel was not in contention coming in 54 seconds after Griepel crossed the line. Reported that Kittel punctured close to the end of the stage but from his post stage interview looks as though Giant just missed the split in the peloton. This win takes Griepel's overall Tour de France stage wins up to six, just one behind Kittel. See the updated list of overall Tour de France stage winners here. Kittel wasn't the only rider to have been caught out by the splits as both Pierre Rolland and Thibault Pinot lost 59 seconds. Pinot is now 3:24 down and Rolland 6:17.
Overall for Yellow there has been no change in the top ten placings with Nibali nicely placed. In the Green jersey competition Peter Sagan has further consolidated his hold: Peter has 217 points with his nearest challenger Bryan Coquard 80 points behind on 137 and Marcel Kittel on 135 points.
