Further snippets of news: oysters and leaving La Grille

New oyster bar in Les Halles, Tours to open in October

Pierre Pichot (right) with Gérard Vallée (Saint-Nicolas-de-Bougueil) during the Cab Franc Ambassadors evening in O Bistro, February 2009

Pierre Pichot, export manager at InterLoire, is leaving the organisation in September to open an oyster bar in Les Halles in October. The move is not a total surprise as Pierre's family run the Les Parcs St. Kerber / Les Viviers d'Armor, who are reputed for their oysters. During the Cabernet Franc Ambassadors tasting in Paris, we had a tasting of them at Les Comédiens – they were so good that I shamefully neglected to make proper notes on the three different types of oyster we tried. Not sure whether you will be able to order a 'pichot' a of wine!

Château de la Grille

Jean-Max Manceau
I understand that Jean-Max will be leaving Château
de la Grille, Chinon at the end of this month after 28 years. Jean-Max had been in charge of the estate, which was bought by Baudry-Dutour in January. He has his own family estate: the Domaine de Noire.
