'We piled into Michel Chapoutier's 4x4 SUV - an Audi, if I remember correctly - for the short ride back to our hotel. It had been a superb evening; one which had kicked off in the Chapoutier offices in Tain l'Hermitage with a tasting of the Sélections Parcellaires, Michel's flagship cuvées from the length and breadth of the Rhône, before decamping to a Chapoutier outpost on the hill of Hermitage.'

Chapoutier is something of a champion of the white wines from those northern Rhône appellations more known for red wines.
