The Second Battle of Wounded Knee (11 weeks on) + Loch Gynack

It is now 11 weeks since I had the operation on my knee to reattach my quads to my left knee cap, having ruptured them from my knee slipping on black ice on 2nd January. 

As the photos show the operation scar is healing up nicely – a big difference today (22nd March) from how my knee was on 5th February.

I celebrated the approach of 11 weeks since the operation by taking the old drovers track between Newtonmore and Kingussie. This track heads up towards the mountains before turning right to pass along the north side of Loch Gynack. This was most strenuous walk I have attempted since the operation. I was fortunate that it was a beaut of a day – bright sunshine and blue skies as the photos below show.

Black ice 6 Millésime Bio and Le Salon des Vins de Loire 0

Following my operation on my knee yesterday I will have to have a rigid splint on my left leg for the next 12 weeks. For the first six weeks my leg has to be kept straight. This means that I cannot travel so no visit to Montpellier for Millésime Bio and very sadly no Salon des Vins de Loire this year. I had hoped it might be possible to go to Angers for the Salon but there is no way it can be done.

I am so grateful for the outstanding care I received from Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and the ambulance crew from Kingussie who took me from Newtonmore to Inverness.

So it goes......!!

Not a great start to 2018....

Unfortunately I slid on black ice this morning and damaged my knee. This led to a visit to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness transported in an ambulance. After a couple of hours wait I was x-rayed and then allowed back to Newtonmore. However, I will be back at the hospital for surgery to repair the damage. 

The ambulance and Raigmore Hospital staff were fantastic – what a great institution the NHS is! 

Hope that normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
