2011 Loire vintage: Bourgueil Domaine Pierre Caslot

Stéphanie Caslot tasting baby 2011 Bourgueil (above and below)

We dropped into see the Caslot family on 5th October, the day after they had finished the vintage. Stéphanie was happy with the results as they had benefitted from the fine weather in the second half of September and early October. "We started on the 19th September and then stopped for a while. In all we had 10 days of harvest  – all 28 hectares picked by hand, which includes a small amount of Chenin Blanc which was planted in 1995. Some years like 2009 and 2010 we use pigeage but we won't be using it in 2011."
