Verbania, Lake Maggiore: one recommended restaurant and one to avoid
Lake Maggiore@Laveno
After the rush of the EWBC and the post trip to Chianti we spent a relaxing day beside Lake Maggiore. Taking one of the frequent ferries across the lake from Laveno to Intra-Verbania, on the west side, we looked for a restaurant to have a light lunch.
Ristorante Isolino, Verbania – one to avoid (above and below)
The first restaurant we tried was Ristorante Isolino (Piazza San Vittore, 3/a, 28922 Verbania), where the woman in charge was both decidedly unwelcoming (a scowl rather than a smile) and then so rude we rapidly decided that we would take our custom elsewhere. This of course didn't please her and led to further rude comments. A restaurant to avoid.
Borgo Antica
Fortunately we soon found a much nicer and more friendly restaurant – the Borgo Antica (Via San Vittore 122). Run by some women from Ecuador it offers a very good value lunchtime menu for 10€. If we are back in Intra we would certainly go again.
