Noëlla Morantin (Cher Valley) expands

Noëlla Morantin during the 2011 vintage

News from Bertrand Celce that Noëlla Morantin is expanding – buying 3.8 hectares of vines from Junko Arai of Les Bois Lucas. As far as I know these vineyards originally belonged to Le Clos Roche Blanche, who sold them to Junko Arai. Noëlla will be acquiring three hectares of Sauvignon Blanc planted between 1944 and 1969 plus 0.8 ha of Gamay. The vineyards are organic. This purchase will bring the Morantin domaine up to 12 ha as she rents 8.2ha from Le Clos Roche Blanche.

A couple of years ago Junko Arai sold some five hectares to Thierry Delaunay, and he continues to farm this parcel organically.

Bertrand's story on Noëlla is here.
