2006 La Jalousie, Savennières, Domaine du Closel

2006 La Jalouise, Savennières, Domaine du Closel, Château des Vaults

La Jalousie is the de Jessey family's Savennières from young vines. The 2006 La Jalousie is quite rich with honeyed and beeswax flavours along with a touch of quince. We didn't finish the bottle at one sitting and the longer it was open, the more the beeswax character became dominant. This waxy character is likely to divide opinion over this wine. Drinking well now, this Closel Savennières could be kept for at least another five years.

This was a sample from the Colchester Wine Company.

Just been given a bottle of this, need to drink it soon - I'm on a bit of a Loire mission as I reckon it's the big hole in my blind tasting knowledge for the diploma - probably won't need it but it'll be fun trying!

Tim. Will be interested to know what you think. Shouldn't be drunk too cold.

I'll have to revisit this now as I've a few bottles left and the previous bottles didn't impress. I'll keep your temperature rec in mind. Any suggestions on a food match?

TWG I suspect that this is a wine that will divide opinion because of its waxy character. I enjoyed it, although I have have a preference for wines from producers like Damien Laureau and Eric Morgat.
