From a press release from Sopexa (UK):
'InterLoire, the regional trade body for Loire Valley Wines, is delighted to announce that Rosé d’Anjou Wines is the official sponsor of the upcoming Gay Icons exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The ground-breaking exhibition, which will be held from July to October, celebrates the unique, lasting and diverse contribution of gay people to British history and culture. A panel of ten selectors, chaired by Sandi Toksvig, worked to choose six “icons” who may or may not be gay themselves. These icons include Quentin Crisp, Diana Princess of Wales, KD Lang, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Nelson Mandela.
Pierre Pichot, Export Manager at InterLoire, commented: “Rosé wines are the trendy wines for early adopter consumers in the UK. We wanted to demonstrate that Rosé d’Anjou has the class and quality to appeal to this broad audience via an association with an innovative, edgy and sophisticated partner. The National Portrait Gallery and the Gay Icons exhibition was the perfect choice.”
Olivier Lecomte, President of the Rosé d’Anjou Syndicate, added: “Portraiture is an art which is easy to relate to, cutting across racial, social, educational and economic barriers whilst enhancing cultural appreciation and awareness. Viticulture shares many of the same values - it blends grape varieties, personalities and culture to create wines which are designed to be enjoyed in a diverse number of ways. We believe that Rosé d’Anjou wines perfectly complement this exhibition, as they appeal to a broad range of wine drinkers – from every walk of life.”
Gay Icons opens on 2nd July and runs until 18th October.
