2009 vendanges in Epeigné-les-Bois

Pickers@Epeigné-les-Bois: 23 September 2009

Delighted and excited to have arrived in Touraine this afternoon with the chance to have a look at some of the 2009 vintage. Driving down across northern France from Calais to Rouen was pretty miserable this morning surrounded by a damp sea mist. However, once we turned south after Rouen, the skies cleared and the temperature steadily rose from around 15/16˚C to a maximum of 27˚C at Tours. It is a beautifully warm sunny day here in Touraine.

We caught a handful of pickers in a small plot of vines at Epeigné-les-Bois as a first taster of 2009. More reports to follow shortly.

••

6.45pm and it is still 25˚C. Quick visits to see Vincent Roussley (Clos Roussely) and Aynard and Isabelle Clermont-Tonnerre (Clos du Porteau). Reports and pics to follow.
