The impressive approach to the Château

We dropped into the Portes Ouvertes @Château de Petit Thouars to buy wine and chocolate cake:

 North face of the château

Vineyard above and close to the château

 Sap rising on pruned shoot...
but vines seem to have hardly moved
over the past eight/nine days
but with fine weather forecast could see budding
starting by the end of the week

 South face of the château

 Portes Ouvertes

Choco Roi – one of the attractions @Les Portes Ouvertes

Sculptors working with tuffeau – the local limestone

Two sculptors and a guard dog...

First brilliant day since we arrived on 18th March – detail of the château
