1982 Haut-Médoc: when Allan Cheesman was in his pomp!

 1982 Château Barreyres, Haut-Médoc, Sainsbury's Vintage Selection

Opened on Thursday night and enjoyed with a pot roasted chicken this bottle of 1982 Château Barreyres, Haut-Médoc bought in Sainsbury's in Forest Hill, London SE23 for around £3 if I remember correctly. Showing well still with sweet, well textured fruit from the days when Allan Cheesman, in charge of wine at Sainsbury's then was his pomp!

I drank a lot of that back in the days when Sainsbury's stocked wine worth drinking. It's selection is dismal now.
