Santarém: preserving the throne intact

View of the inside of a ruined building near the station of Santarém

Today we took a day trip up from Lisbon on the train to the town of Santarém and spent the day wandering around the old quarter. On the way back to the station we passed this ruined building. Will do a separate post with photos of the old quarter.

Am I getting that old ?
I thought it was Guimaraes where you had to look for the origin of Lusitanian kings and queens. Yet, you found the throne allright! The French would even say you found the “étron” (huhuhu).

Due care and attention required here I think.
