Fire@Château d'Angers

Part of the imposing château at Angers

On Saturday afternoon around 15.30 fire broke out in the roof of part of the Château d'Angers. Some of the roof has apparently been destroyed – reports suggest 400 sq metres. Fortunately the famous tapestries were saved and moved out of harm's way.

12.1.2009: Damage to roof is estimated to cost two million euros to repair.
