Photocards from Clacton-on-Sea

Clacton certainly has a proper pier even if on a May Monday many of them are closed

It's that time of year – the annual reunion of a group of Manchester University graduates meeting up at a UK seaside town. The crucial criteria is that the resort has to have a pier and that Clacton has indeed.

One of the amusement arcades

Helter-Skelter – a focal point of the pier

the boardwalk café on the Pier but no sign of the Drifters

The Beatles 50th anniversary tour? No it's the Upbeat Beatles

'If you missed them in 1963 – now is your chance!'

Some imposing buildings on the Clacton front

 Preparing rain for tomorrow?

Faded glory perhaps – the former Royal Hotel– now to let

Sand and Sea shop with everything you might need for the beach

The Sandrock – our hotel with a view of the pier
