2008 Le Clos Sauvignon Blanc, Le Clos Roussely

Yesterday evening sampled 2008 Le Clos Touraine Sauvignon Domaine du Clos Roussely (Saint-Georges-sur-Cher). Recently bottled with attractive crisp, ripe fruit – grapefruit and a touch of gooseberry. Well-made Touraine Sauvignon closed with cork but really ought to be closed with a screwcap. Further confirms my favourable opinion of Vincent Roussley's wines. Although Vincent has vines in Saint-Georges-sur-Cher, he is not one of those vignerons who subjects his vineyards to an 'agent orange' blitz. Instead his vineyard is on conversion to organic status.

See report on a visit to Vincent in December 2008.
