Cork seats on the Lisbon Metro: are the Portuguese anticipating a cork slump?

Coming in from the airport to the centre of Lisbon this afternoon I got on a new Metro train with cork seats. Are the Portuguese looking to diversify away from cork stoppers anticipating a slump in the market? Although the cork seats were pretty, they were decidedly uncomfortable. I wouldn't want to travel far sitting on one! Transport Cork Authority?

To be honest, Jim, rumor has it you sometimes sit on a Lisbon chair on the banks of the river Lee !

I'm afraid another unfounded rumour, Luc.

Unfortunately, The Metropolitano de Lisboa company is already implementing these seats in practically all of the units.
