The coffin@Petty Cemetery
Jimmy's funeral on Monday afternoon was a very moving occasion. We estimate that there were over 400 people at the Crown Church in Inverness. The lower part of the church which holds about 350 people was completely full and there were probably some 50 or more in total upstairs.
An excellent tribute was given by the Reverend Dr Peter Donald, who drew extensively on the memoirs that Jimmy had set down over the last five years of his life. Telling the story of how Jimmy rose from a childhood of shoeless poverty being frequently evicted from their crofts and minimal schooling to Acting Chief Constable for Inverness.
The burial was at Petty Cemetery between
Castle Stuart and the new Castle Stuart golf course.
