Marc Plouzeau: Les Devants de la Bonnelière Touraine Sauvignon 2007

This lemony, grassy Touraine Sauvignon made by Chinon producer Marc Plouzeau was bought from Earthy, an organic food shop, in Edinburgh, for £7.40. It was clean, well made but with the varietal characteristics to the fore. The Plouzeau family has owned Chateau de la Bonnelière since 1846. Marc has 18 ha of vines, which are cultivated organically with some biodynamic treatments also used. The range includes Ante Phylloxera, an AC Touraine that comes from the Clos Maulevrier from 40 ares of very old, ungrafted Cabernet Franc vines.
