Hi Jim
Staying in faye d'Anjou for the first three weeks of July we certainly saw good, warm, sunny weather for two of the three weeks. The middle of the the three weeks (around Bastille day) was indeed the wettest. What surprised me was how localised the rain was - at the east of Faye d'Anjou we enjoyed a thunderstorm spectacle one evening, and torrential rain for much of the night. On the other side of the village, Eddy Oosterlinck denied having any rain at all!

Interestingly, in my part of the region, east of Tours in the Cher valley, we've had the wettest July in at least five years. At my house I recorded 107mm of rain for the month!

Talking to Vincent Ogereau (Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay) on Thursday he reported that in his part of the Layon it was very dry and that they hadn't had rain for some weeks.Clearly very localised the thundery storms.

Thanks for this. 107mm is a lot of rain, especially given that Tours is not that far away and they recorded under 50 mm for the month.
