2010 Le Tour de France: Alessandro Petacchi – still young at 36

Alessandro Petacchi won his second stage yesterday and it was against a full complement of sprinters unlike Sunday's stage when it was against a few survivors of the crash. Mark Cavendish was well beaten – sitting up well before crossing the line. At 36 Alessandro is so far having a much better Tour than that other veteran champion – Lance Armstrong.

Today's stage to Montargis looks like another sprinters' benefit. Will Mark Cavendish find last year's spark or is he just not fully on form?

Apologies that there was only one post yesterday. This was due to not being able to get onto BT Openzone at Gatwick Airport and my Queasyjet flight being delayed by over two hours. Although QueasyJet are nicer people to deal with than Ryanair, their time keeping in my experience is not as good. I guess 50% of the QueasyJet flights I take are delayed.

Coming later today a report on a dinner with Alain Brumont's wines@Gauthier Soho.
