Murder in the Layon (cont)

Looking across to Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay

Despite another hearing yesterday at the Appeal Court in Angers it remains unclear whether Aurélien was murdered or whether he committed suicide in a vineyard at Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay. Four people are still under arrest and are in prison. They have admitted attacking Aurélien but deny murder and claim that Aurélien committed suicide after the attack but there is doubt whether he had the strength after the attack to hang himself.

It is thought that Aurélien was attacked by fellow grape pickers either because he had had sex with one of pickers' girl friends at the fête de fin de vendanges the day before or he had stolen some drugs.

Ouest-France has the details here.
