2008 Pouilly-Fumé, Domaine des Rabichattes

2008 Domaine des Rabichattes, Pouilly-Fumé

This is the second of the Pouilly-Fumés from Majestic Wine. Domaine des Rabichattes is run by Gérard and Fabrice Grebet, who have 16 hectares of vines around the hamlet of Les Loges just to the north of Pouilly-sur-Loire. The Grebet family has been making wine for five generations. This Pouilly-Fumé (£10.99) has more character than the 2006 from Jean-Pierre Bailly with citric fruit, particularly grapefruit with a high acid finish. Again I'm not convinced that this Pouilly-Fumé is worth £4 more than Thierry Delaunay's 2008 Touraine Sauvignon (£6.99).

To be fair to Jean-Pierre Bailly, Majestic will be sending me his 2008 to taste. It may be that his 2006 had faded.
