Quarts de Chaume: at long last an outbreak of good sense!

The producers of Quarts de Chaume and Chaume have applied to the INAO for Quarts de Chaume to become the Loire's first Grand Cru, while Chaume is applying to be a Premier Cru. This would mean that Chaume would return to Premier Cru status to which it was promoted in 2003 before complaints from Quarts' producers led to the the annulation in 2005.

It remains to be seen whether their application will be successful but this is the first sign of good sense breaking out in this small village, which has been involved in a very foolish, obscure and surely unnecessary dispute since 2003 over the promotion of Chaume reminiscent of two bald men fighting over a comb!
