This year's Wine Blog Trophy, which is associated with the Salon des Vins de Loire is now well underway with a number of entries vying for votes. The theme for this year is 'Les Vins de Loire se mettent à table'.
Entries so far include two from my colleagues in Les 5 du Vin – Michel Smith on the new Muscadet crus and Marc Vanhellemont on wines from the Delesvaux Clan. Voting is now open and it would appear that you can vote through Facebook for as many candidates as you wish.
At the moment Nicolas Brouté with another post on Muscadet/Melon de Bourgogne is the runaway leader with 24 likes followed by Vincent Simon, a Belgian chef who will be soon opening a restaurant in Ingrandes-en-Touraine with the spotlight on the wines of Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil with 11. Then there is Benjamin Poussardin and Marc on 5, Bruno Bosselin (4), Michel Smith (3), Denis Hervier (3), Nathalie Merceron (2), Marie-Christine and Didier Clément from the famous Grand Hôtel du Lion d'Or in Romorantin(1) and lastly Richard James, Eric Vigean and Jean-Charles Botte who are all yet to get off the mark.
I believe that the redoubtable blogger Vincent Pousson is intending to enter but have yet to see his name among the list of participants.

Anyone wishing to compete has until 15th January to enter. Blog posts can be in either French or English.
