IWC Personality of the Year Award 2012 + 'this blogger' jacket

IWC (International Wine Challenge) Personality of the Year Award 2012

'This blogger' flanked by Tim Atkin MW and Mick Hucknall

I was shocked and humbled when back in July I was emailed by Chris Ashton of the IWC and told that the co-chairmen of the International Wine Challenge had chosen me as their IWC Personality of the Year 2012. I'm very proud to have been chosen by my peers and people I greatly respect – Tim Atkin MW, Oz Clarke, Sam Harrop MW, Charles Metcalfe, Peter McCombie MW and Derek Smedley MW. I was presented with the award by Mick Hucknall of Simply Red at the IWC Awards Dinner.

'this blogger' formal jacket attire

Naturally this black tie Awards Dinner demanded suitable attire. Accordingly a black jacket was purchased in a charity shop in Edinburgh for £6 and we found an embroidery business in rural Nairnshire – embroidery designs who duly added 'this blogger' in gold lettering for £8. We dropped the jacket off on our way to Orkney and picked it up on our way back.

Why 'this blogger'? See here. May have to consider launching a range of bespoke formalwear under the 'RP100™' brand!

  3. Congratulations, Jim, and one suggestion : why don’t you use your whiskers as raw material for the embroidering work, rather than gold cotton thread ? It would be an added value.
