2015 Les Vignes Retrouvées, AC St Mont,
Plaimont Co-operative
This is another treat from The Wine Society – part of the 30 bottles we ordered. Les Vignes Retrouvées comes from the very well run Plaimont Co-operative. It is billed as a tribute to three local white grape varieties – Gros Manseng, Petit Courbu and Arrufiac.
Les Vignes Retrouvées has more weight and structure than last night's wine – Le Gaillac Perlé but is equally attractive with good length and well balanced. It has sufficient weight to drink well with a a grilled fish or with white meats including a simply roast chicken. Good to see local varieties being given attention.
This wine used to be carried by a wine shop in the Boston (Massachusetts) area, but I haven't seen it in awhile. On the whole, Plaimont makes some very good wines. We rented a gite in that area a few years ago, and the owners grew some grapes for the cooperative, and had us over for a tasting of some of their wines, which they sold from their house.
