2016 start up for Stéphane Delettre in Bourgueil

Stéphane Delettre (Bourgueil)

Stéphane Delettre is the latest new producer to launch his own domaine in Bourgueil. He was showing his first vintage – 2016 – at La Levée de la Loire

Stéphane studied in Beaune and worked for three years with Laurent Herlin before starting out with one hectare in February 2016, which is now expanding to three hectares with vines in both Restigné and Ingrandes. He had been helped by Laurent Herlin and Sébastien David as well as other organic producers in Bourgueil. He is currently staying in one of Herlin's gîtes, while renovating a house in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil.

In 2016 Stéphane made three wines: two fun wines and one more serious. The two fun wines are: Petites Bulles, a rosé pétillant, and Prima Vindemia – a juicy, easy drinking red made using carbonic maceration. Both wines are labelled Vin de France. He also has a Bourgueil, which is still fermenting. Prior to changing his life Stéphane sold building materials across France.
