Reviving a walled garden – Easton

Yesterday we visited Easton Walled Gardens near Grantham. It is impressive how an extensive garden that had fallen into dereliction for 50 years has been restored.

It is a shame that the main house was demolished in 1951. It had been occupied by the Army during the 2nd World War. Unfortunately apparently after the Army left it was in such a state that the family decided it had to be demolished.

House at the beginning of 20th Century

The impetus behind the restoration of the walled gardens is Ursula Cholmeley.
