Epeigné-les-Bois' church dates at least from 1221 as some of the main beams have been found to date from this year. It is possible that there was a church on this site before this date.
Today we had the chance to visit the roof top to see how the repair work is progressing. This post will cover the repairs with two others to come inside the church and views across the village from above.

Dendrochronology has its limitations. Beams are often reused so, especially if it is known that there was an earlier church on the site, the beams might be from that. Also, though a lesser point, main beams would have been allowed to age a good deal before being used in any load bearing role.
