2011 Douro Rosé Aluzé, Quinta do Pessegueiro
attractive, easy drinking rosé to start

They say practice makes perfect, so it seemed eminently sensible to get in a little light training before the start of the Adegga Wine Market today at the Hotel Florida, Lisbon. Here are photos of the majority of the wines the 19 of us tried over the course of the evening. Unfortunately there isn't time to write notes on all of the wines which, with one exception, showed well.
André, Magnus and Ana Sofia @practice
2007 Branco, Casal Figueira, Estremadura
Lovely, stylish white - drinking well now but will
surely continue to do so for a number of years
2013 Douro Branco, Quinta da Terrincha
2001 Escolha Branco, Minho, Quinta de SanJoanne
Undoubtedly one of the wines of the evening with
lovely mature, honeyed nose, rich palate no sign of fading
2005 Réserve Sauternes, Rousset-Peyraguey
made by natural winemaker – another wine of the evening especially
when paired with Fabien Lainé's mother's foie gras.
He also bought the bottle
2002 Le Jean-Marc, AC Bordeaux, Château Maugey
Excellent Bordeaux at a brilliant price: €10-15
Apparently unknown to Jean-Marc Maugey German
'winemaker' Hardy Rodenstock used some of
Maugey's wine to mimic Bordeaux First Growths
2011 Douro (in magnum) from Wine on the Rocks,
Finkus Collection, Finkus Bripp
Dangerously drinkable
2011 Tinta Grossa, DOC Alentejo, Paulo Laureno
Rare to find a 100% Tinta Grossa – it was soft and delicious
1991 Rioja Reserva, Baron de Ley: this bottle past its best
1968 Colheita from Andresen (Porto)
Kindly brought by Beatriz and André
Fabulously complex Port to finish the evening
