Epeigné-les-Bois: 2014 muncipal election results

With just one list there was considerably less suspense in Epeigné-les-Bois than in Tours when the results of the 2014 Municipal Election were posted@20.15. 

All of the candidates easily obtained the necessary 50% + 1 of those who voted (228 out of an electorate of 311), so all have been elected in the first round.

73% of the electorate voted. There were 13 spoilt ballot papers, so 315 votes actually counted. Philippe Gallet heads the votes with 199 – 92.56%. Even though there was only one list the percentage of the electorate voting in Epeigné was well above the national figure of 61.5%. 

 The new Conseil's programme

The new Conseil will meet on Saturday morning to select a new Maire, who is expected to be Christian Percevault, who was a Maire Adjoint (a deputy-mayor) in the previous administration and who headed the list of candidates.

Tours

Jean Germain, the current Maire of Tours, looks to have his work cut out if he is to be re-elected next Sunday in the second round of voting. Serge Babary (UMP) leads with 36.5% of the vote with Germain (PS/PC/Modern/PRG) around 9% behind on 27.8%. The National Front won a startling 13%. In the 2008 election Jean Germain polled 46.74%, so if he is to triumph for the fourth time next Sunday he will need the combined votes of the Left.

If Jean Germain fails his project to have some vines in Benais (AC Bourgueil) may be brought forward, although he will remain a French Senator.
