French Wine Discoveries: Château de Fresne – David Maupin

David Maupin and Emilie Brossellier

This will be my last post on the French Wine Discoveries tasting in London on 14th January at Tobacco Dock featuring David Maupin (Maître de Chai) of Château du Fresne (76 hectares) in Faye d'Anjou and Emilie Brossellier. The estate is run by Maupin, Nicolas Richez (Maître de la Cave) and Yannis Bretault (Maître des Ceps).

Among the wines I tasted I was impressed with the attractively textured 2011 Anjou Rouge (70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon) and their 2012 Coteaux du Layon Faye d'Anjou, which has good concentration for this difficult vintage.
