Concours Mondial – Sauvignon 2013: 26th and 27th April

Will be headed off early tomorrow morning to Blois for the 2013 Concours Mondial du Sauvignon. This is the fourth edition and the first time that it has been held in the Loire. Until now Bordeaux has monopolised the competition.

For some reason best known to the organisers I have been asked to chair the Thursday evening session on 'technique de la Touraine à Sancerre, Les particularités des vins issus du Sauvignon Blanc en centre Val de Loire'. I will also be expected to provide some elements of translation – I trust that the speakers will not be too technical!

To introduce the forthcoming Concours there is an article by Catherine Simon in today's La Nouvelle République here

  1. The organizers must have known you consider sauvignon as THE grape for Touraine...
    Ils sont Belges, une fois?

  2. Anon. I can understand that for your own safety you prefer to remain anonymous. I would not hide that for me Chenin Blanc is the great white grape variety. However, I do enjoy a glass of SB from time to time and from a top producer it can be very fine with a potential to age.

I'm looking forward to the Concours.

Lastly it is worth rembering that the great Eddy Merckx is Belge.
