2010 fiorfiore, 100% Grechetto di Todi, Cantina Roccafiore
At #Umbria for winelovers13 I concentrated on the white wines and was impressed by their balance with ripe fruit balanced with acidity. Two grapes stood out: the Grechetto, the traditional and typical grape of Umbria, and the Trebbiano Spoletino, a traditional variety that has been enjoying a renaissance in the Montefalco area – of which more later.
One of the wines that particularly impressed me was the 2010 fiorfiore from Cantina Roccafiore with its very nicely balanced weight of quite rich fruit and length. I'm not surprised that it was a winner at the #winelovers food and wine matching competition where it was judged to be the best white to match the frittatina morbida al tartufo della Valnerina.
