New African Voices concert: Youssou Ndour with Carlou D and Suzanna Owiyo

Carlou D (amazing voice range and incredibly tall)

Went to a very good and exciting concert@The Barbican, London last night – New African Voices with Youssou Ndour (Senegal) and Carlou D (also Senegal) and Suzanna Owiyo (Kenya). Much dancing and joy!

Rather fuzzy pic of Youssou Ndour

I envy you. This type of music is sheer fun, even for longer than seven seconds – as Neneh Cherry surely found out by herself. As for the Barbican, I discovered the place when it was brand new, in the early eighties, and quite liked it. How did it age?
I had attended a RSC performance of King Lear: the king himself was good fun, a nice chappy, but I didn’t fancy the jester. At the same time, there was this meeting of the European Dialysis and Transplant Association, but I found the sessions less inspiring.
