Top 100 wine blogs: Jim's Loire@No 16!

Chenin in Savennières late September 2010

I was considerably surprised on Wednesday to discover that Jim's Loire is listed No 16 on the Cellarer's list of best wine blogs with a potential estimate value of $14,418.

The top ten sites listed here are: Wine Spectator, Dr Vino, Wine lovers page, Wine Enthusiast, eRobertParker, The Winedoctor, Vinography, Decanter, Jancis Robinson and The wine anorak.

Although it is flattering to appear so high in the list, I find it hard to believe that Jancis Robinon's site is notionally worth just $2888 more than Jim's Loire. However, good to see that Chris Kissack's The Wine Doctor is worth nearly as much as eRobertParker.

  1. That's kind Fiona, although I remain rather dubious about the listing!

  2. Congratulations, Jim.
Beside your own talent, this indicates the attractive power of your favorite region as well !
How do they estimate the “value” of a wine blog? Is this what people would pay in order to become the owner of your site?
They forget one factor: you have been ... seminal in the vocation of some of us. I’m 100 points on that !

  4. Ok, Jim, thank you. Being a novice, I still don’t have the reflex to cross-link. True, it gets endless as well, as more and more links are indicated.
So, you have a very expensive tool/toy at hand, don’t you?
It means your PR index is very good (you are a Google-friendly blog) AND your traffic is intense.
If I summarize: you wear very distinctive shirts, you have an expensive tool, you are a potentially rich man and your traffic is intense. I would worry, if I were your wife!

  8. And you did not appear at the World Wine Symposium among small fry like Bettane or Boüard! What a shame!
