2009 Coutures, Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, Frédéric Mabileau

Certainly Frédéric Mabileau's 2009 Coutures from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak for some nine months was the favourite red of the evening.

  1. I am thinking of opening my `06 Roulerie Anjou this evening if I can shake off a couple of minor ailments!

  2. Bob. I'd open it anyway. Chenin Blanc is a well known cure for minor ailments.

  3. PS. Bob It has to be said that the 2009 Roulerie was rather dumb last night and needed time in the glass to open up. Will be interesting to know how the 2006 is now shaping up.

  4. I am not quite sure if this wine will show its best. There is not much of a track record is there?

  6. Bob. I suggest you just pull the cork and see. Hopefully in 2011 we can pull some corks together in the Loire.
