2010 Loire vintage starts around Le Puy Notre Dame

Start of 2010 vintage@Le Puy Notre Dame

Message received yesterday from Micaela Frow of La Grande Maison:
Harvest just started today 13/09/10 in the vineyards around Le Puy Notre Dame at Domaine de Moulin now owned by Pressoirs de France. Hand picking (I think Chardonnay but unable to confirm as pickers gone for lunch!) for the Crémant* into crates.

The white grapes are harvested manually at 80% to secure the appellation Crémant de Loire. The white wine-storehouse produces 1697 hectoliters.

* The Crémant décret requires the grapes to be picked by hand.

2010 Chardonnay for Crémant

My thanks to Micaela for this and the photos.
