The Wednesday morning market in Loches is always worth a visit if you are in the area. We would have gone to the Saturday edition last week but as it was pouring with rain it didn't appeal.
L'Ecremières: the excellent cheese stall
Street in the heart of the market
In the pink – the happy pig!
Reflections of the market in the Café du Balto windows
Café du Balto: time for a calm coffee while watching the bustling market
Wine shop: Les flaveurs de la Terre
Two weeks today, we'll be there !
ReplyDeleteCan't wait !
You've given me the desire to trek down to Loches for the market one Wednesday soon! I haven't been in a while.
ReplyDeleteJean. Hopefully you will get good weather. After three of four good days, this morning it is pouring with rain. Although we do need some as the winter has been quite dry.
ReplyDeleteWalt. Not too bad a trek from Mareuil is it?
ReplyDeleteIndeed, except that we have visitors today, I am pleased to see the rain for my fruit and vegetables sake. The cheese stall you picture is the best - we have some brebis de lochois in the fridge at the moment from them. The best vege stall is a few down from them, on the corner - unpreposessing compared to the big ones through the old town gate, but local produce and excellent value.

ReplyDeleteSusan. We bought brebis de lochois yesterday too. Agree the veg stall pictured is OK but not the best. I took the pic because we were sitting having coffee nearby. I think the veg stall in the small square (Rue Agnès Sorel I think) is very good.
