Ryanair flights: Tours-Porto/ Montigny en fête

Tours Airport

From 4th September Ryanair will be starting twice weekly flights (Monday and Friday) from Tours to Porto. Ryanair is hoping to attract 20,000 passengers a year on this route. Nearly 7000 Portuguese live in Indre-et-Loire. On-line booking is now open.

Tours Airport is reported to be hoping to handle 100,000 passengers this year. To do this comfortably it will need to expand its facilities, which are already cramped and limited.

More details in today's La Nouvelle République.

Montigny

Le Tour de France@Montigny: 15th July
The 11th stage of this year's Tour de France from Vatan to Saint-Fargeau will pass through a number of the Loire's Central Vineyards – Reuilly, Quincy, Menetou, Sancerre and Pouilly. It will go through the village of Montigny at the extreme west of AC Sancerre. The people of Montigny obviously intend to enjoy the occasion and are planning a 'une journée de convivialité' from 11am.

I'm sure other wine villages will be planning events for 15th July – I will be happy to post details if organisers will send them.

Hopefully Mark Cavendish will still be in the Green Jersey, having won the sprint at Issoudun the day before, and will go on to pick up another victory in Saint-Fargeau.

  1. Thanks Jim. Do let me know when they start doing Edinburgh to Tours!

  2. Chris: I think we should petition Mr O'Leary. We could probably persuade mr Tom Cannavan to use the service as well if he can find his way across from Glasgow.

  3. A Cavendish fan, eh Jim? He's certainly impressive in the sprints. The Columbia leadout train for his win on Stage Two was textbook.

Will you go to Stage 15 yourself?
