Teenage Cancer Trust @Brighton Marathon – band and runners

Yesterday at the Brighton Marathon, Lewes based Skull Drummery played just in front of Tesco in Hove. "The acoustics are great here," said their leader. "This is our sixth year playing here for Teenage Cancer during the marathon. I'm a great Who fan and I think rock came of age when they started supporting very worthwhile causes. Roger Daltrey is very supportive of Teenage Cancer Trust." Daltry is one of the Honorary Patrons of the Trust.

Brighton Marathon featuring Doctor Lou and thousands of others

Still standing – Doctor Lou with her medal

We were down on the South Coast today for the Brighton Marathon to support my niece Doctor Lou running her first marathon. She finished with an honourable 4 hours 46 minutes. She was hoping to go a little faster to get under 4.5 hours but, although looking fresh at 15 and around 17 miles, she suffered from the 20 mile mark on the last flat and windy leg out to Shoreham before the turn for home. So congratulations Doc!

4150 women started the race with 3981 finishing, while 6922 men started and 6622 finished. Full results here. Congratulations to all the finishers. Although I have ridden cycle marathons, I have never fancied running a marathon – all that pounding on a hard surface.
